Today’s readings give us a good reminder of what Christmas is. The Prophet Jeremiah reminds us that this day is about our eternal King, the One who ‘will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land’. The psalmist states that this King is the One who will help the afflicted, take pity on the weak and save the needy from death. The King is the answer to every need of this world. The world we live in is increasingly confusing. Values and morals seem to have no place in society while justice seems to be nonexistent. We wonder about our future, our children’s future and we worry about the generations to come. We let ourselves be lost in this confusion, in this rat race that we have created for ourselves. But Christmas is a good time to go back to our roots. To go back to the word of God and realize that the answers we look for are already provided in the Word: Jesus. Let our focus be on him, the reason for this season and let our energy go into glorifying his eternal name.
PRAYER: Abba Father, give me the grace to seek you more. Amen.
