Today’s parable shows the co-existence of good and evil. We see the goodness of God’s people in our environments. They are the ‘good seed’. Their hearts are pure and are motivated to live for God and please him. We will also see the weeds that grow among the wheat. The weeds represent those who have turned away from God, those who are disobedient and those who conform to worldly ways. When trials and tribulations hit them, they lose faith and turn to other means. We should avoid sowing seeds of division, immorality, jealousy, lust for money, power and position and
wickedness. It was Jesus’ inner response that convicted Judas. We may also suffer at the hands of such people and be prompted to react. If we do, we risk falling from grace and bringing others down with us thereby destroying the whole harvest in the process. When we begin to trust God we will soon find that God has dispatched his mighty angels to save and protect us.
Prayer: Abba Father, just as Christ forgave Judas, help us to forgive and pray for our enemies and bring out the good in them. Amen.
