The first reading tells us that although those that are virtuous and faithful to God may not be highly regarded by the world, they will be rewarded in eternity. Trust in God through the vicissitudes of life is the theme of today’s best-known psalm.
St Paul reminds us that Our Lord Jesus Christ sacrificed his life for our sins so that we are forgiven and, having been reconciled, we can be even more confident of salvation with the Risen Lord within us. The Gospel Acclamation assures the Blessed are welcome into the Kingdom promised at the beginning of the world. In the Gospel Proclamation our Lord Jesus promises us that having been given to Him by the Father, he will not lose us but if we believe in Him, he will raise us up on the last day to have everlasting life in the Kingdom. With such iron-clad promises, we have no reason to fear but should always step forward in faith and hope in God.
Prayer: Abba Father, keep on filling us with the Holy Spirit so that we may be constantly reminded of Your promises and sustained by them. Amen
