Crossing over from death to life
  • Isaiah 49:8-15
  • Psalm 145:8-9,13-14,17-18
  • John 5:17-30

How can we defeat death? How can we cross over from death to life, from our sinful ways to holiness? God will never forget us nor abandon us but we walk away from him and choose to live by ourselves and end up entangled in sin and misery. Even in our lowest state God will never abandon us. In the first reading God reminds us “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you” (Isaiah 49:15). Jesus says that whoever hears his word and believes in the One who sent him has eternal life – we will live for ever. The Lord Jesus was in union with God the Father. He heard his voice, listened to his voice, he saw what the Father was doing and did what the Father wanted him to do. Finally he defeated death itself and in him we have eternal life. Our time, our life belongs to God. We are called to listen to his voice daily and ponder his Word, to crossover from death to life.

PRAYER: Abba Father, we thank and praise you for you are loving towards all you have made and near to all who call upon you in truth. Amen.
