In today’s first reading, we see that Paul spoke as a Pharisee realising there were two groups – Pharisees and Sadducees. Pharisees believed in resurrection, spirits and angels whereas the Sadducees did not believe all three. A debate broke out between them. There was a difference of opinion, a chaotic situation. Jesus prayed that all may be one. We are invited to share the intimacy of Jesus’ own prayer and relationship with Abba. Let us be present as Jesus prays, “I have made your name known to them, so that the love with which you loved me, may be in them, so that I may be in them”. Jesus is talking about us; wanting to include us in the love relationship he has with Abba. Jesus knows himself as loved before the foundation of the world. Let us recall a time in our own journey when we experienced deep abiding love. Give thanks for this and for the gift of love in our lives. Let us welcome the love of Jesus within us and let us share this love with those we meet.
PRAYER: Abba Father, keep safe the abandoned, the forgotten, the sick, and the lonely, for our hope is in you. Amen.
