Embrace New Life
  • Acts 2:36-41
  • Psalm 33: 4-5,18-20,22
  • John 20:11-18

Peter’s sermon pierces the hearts of his listeners, leading them to repentance and baptism. Peter declares that Jesus, whom they crucified, is both Lord and Christ. This realization sparks a deep conviction, prompting them to ask, “What shall we do?” Peter’s answer is profound: repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This passage reminds us of the transformative power of the Gospel. It calls us to acknowledge our sin, return to God, and embrace the new life offered in Christ. The Gospel reading captures the tender moment of Mary Magdalene encountering the risen Jesus. In her grief, she does not recognize him until he calls her by name. This encounter emphasizes the intimate relationship Jesus desires to have with us. Like Mary, we may struggle to recognize Jesus, specially in moments of despair. Yet, he is always present, calling us by name, inviting us into a deeper relationship with him.

PRAYER: Abba Father, help me to recognize and respond to your voice daily. Amen.
