As we celebrate the Feast of St. Luke, we are reminded of the call to embrace the mission with unwavering courage and commitment, as exemplified in today’s readings. In the first reading, we witness St. Paul’s steadfastness despite abandonment by some companions, highlighting the resilience required in fulfilling our callings. Similarly, in the Gospel, Jesus commissions the seventy-two to go out as laborers into the harvest, emphasizing the urgency and sacrificial nature of spreading the Gospel message. St. Luke’s feast challenges us to examine our own dedication to the mission entrusted to us by God. Like St. Paul, we may encounter moments of loneliness and rejection, yet we are called to persevere with faith, knowing that God’s strength sustains us in every trial. Moreover, the Gospel passage underscores the importance of humility and dependence on God’s provision as we engage in the work of evangelization in the world.
PRAYER: Abba Father, may we, inspired by the example of St. Luke, respond to the call to proclaim the Kingdom with boldness and zeal. Amen
