Today’s readings emphasize the profound impact of faith in God. Faith is described as “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Remember the faith of Abraham, who obeyed God’s call to venture into the unknown, believing in promises that seemed impossible. His unwavering faith, exemplifies trust in God’s ultimate plan and goodness. Abraham’s journey illustrates that faith often requires stepping into uncertainty and trusting in God’s promises, despite visible evidence to the contrary. In today’s Gospel reading, the disciples’ fear in the face of the tempest contrasts with Jesus’ serene authority. Their panic reveals their lack of faith, while Jesus’ command to the sea, “Peace, be still,” demonstrates his power over creation. Despite life’s storms, faith in Jesus provides peace and security. Faith, even in the midst of doubt and fear, anchors us to God’s steadfast promises. Let us trust in God’s control and his faithful provision, regardless of the circumstances.
PRAYER: Abba Father, strengthen our faith. Amen.
