Today’s Gospel proclamation speaks of faith, without which it is impossible to please God. Jesus uses the parable of the mustard seed to show us the mighty power of the kingdom of God. We all have a measure of faith. It is upto us to increase our faith by hearing the word of God and reflecting on divine revela- tions. The first reading shows Paul acknowledging the handing down of faith through ancestry through grandmothers to mothers and to the generations be- low. I too acknowledge with love and gratitude my own mother, of 9 children, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Being a convert at the age of 9, her preaching was in action, not in word. Our faith grew seeing the way she loved the unlovable, her selfless sacrifices for those who were in need and her unwavering faith during challenges in life when she was widowed at the age of 42 with 9 children to care for. Timothy witnessed Paul’s faith traveling through the Roman Empire sharing the Good news, let us seek his intercession.
Abba Father, may I leave a legacy of faith that would build others. Amen.
