St. Paul encourages us to imitate Christ. He calls for unity and urges us to learn from those who exemplify Christ-like living. We are reminded of our heavenly citizenship and the importance of staying true to the Lord. With this mindset, we can joyfully turn our attention to the Lord and be receptive to the guidance of his Spirit within us. Our earthly resources cannot accompany us beyond death. We are merely caretakers. By foregoing his commission of the loan the commendable steward earns praise. This parable emphasizes the importance of managing wealth with principles, faithfulness and generosity. Being faithful in small matters prepares us to be entrusted with greater ones. Let us seek the strength, insight and wisdom to be faithful stewards. We may then hope to one day hear the Lord say: “Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy.”
PRAYER: Abba Father, guide us to be faithful stewards of what you have given us. May we be instruments of your kingdom. Amen.
