In the book of Genesis, we read that; “God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good”(Gn 1:31). We are not a work in progress. We are complete. We are fearfully and wonderfully made (Ps 139:14). A potter makes pottery for different purposes. Only the potter knows the purpose for his creation. A scientist can analyse and describe what ingredients are in a piece of cake, but only the baker can tell why they made it. Often our society, environment and social norms decide what is a good piece of pottery and what is not. We chase a purpose other than what we are made for. We break and shatter in this pursuit of false purposes. For the potter, each creation is good. Even more so for God. Can a vase stand the heat and pressure of a cooking pot? Will it not shatter? The pursuit of trying to be who the world wants us to be results in disappointment. We are made perfect and we are equipped with all we need. Our joy is found in trying to be who God created us to be.
PRAYER: Abba Father, you have given me all I need to fulfil the purpose you have created me for. Help me discover my true self. Amen.
