We are God’s children, chosen by God and sanctified by the Spirit. Through the power of the Spirit, the words of the apostles are addressed to us. The ones who do not see but believe and love through faith. We are called to be holy, to walk in faith and trust in what we do, speak and think. Years back, I heard someone warn “Be careful of consecrating yourself to the Sacred Heart. He asks for a heavy price.” For those who are willing to pay that price, for those who are deemed losers, fools and last/least in society for having given up all that we value; our family that gives us roots, our careers that give us purpose, our accolades that give us pride and credibility, so that we can live steadfastly in Jesus’ ways, he assures us that we will be set apart in the kingdom of Heaven. Through his death Jesus gave us hope of an inheritance that can never perish: Salvation. “He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose” (Missionary Jim Elliot).
PRAYER: Abba Father, give me the grace and wisdom to let go of all that distracts me from your grace. Amen.
