In today’s Gospel proclamation Jesus summarises the history of salvation. God gave us this beautiful world, likened to a vineyard set up to cultivate. We were supposed to live a fulfilled life, loving and sharing with others. But sin entered into this beautiful plan. The tenants thought the fruit of the vineyard was theirs and selfishness crept in. In his mercy God sends messengers to call them to repentance. All of them are beaten and killed. In this parable Jesus foretells his death. We have received grace upon grace by his death and resurrection. The parable applies to us too. We are each given a vineyard: our life. We have experienced the love of Jesus and have received the grace to live in accordance with his plan. We have been given many chances to put our lives right with God, by living as he desires us to live. Easily we fall into the trap of judging the hardheartedness of others. Today let us awaken ourselves to see how much our lives are giving glory to God instead of trying to steal glory for ourselves.
Prayer: Abba Father, thank you for never giving up on me. Help me to have my confidence in you and to walk according to your ways. Amen.
