God of Abundance
  • Isaiah 62:1-5
  • Psalm 96: 1-3,7-10
  • 1 Corinthians 12:4-11
  • John 2:1-11

The Gospel reading paints a beautiful picture of a wedding, where the Lord, his mother and disciples were also invited. In his public ministry Jesus’ first miracle was turning water into wine. I was reminded of my pilgrimage to the Holy Land. There we saw replicas of six stone water jars which they may have used for this purpose. They were huge, in my heart I exclaimed “You are the Lord of abundance”. Let this be a reminder to us, that we need to invite Jesus to our life and depend on his provision: for both spiritual and material needs. When we delight in him, he will bless us with his peace, love and joy. That is what the Couple at Cana, received. The Lord and his beloved mother came to their aid as wedding guests, turned a hopeless situation to a gala reception where wine was poured in abundance. So it shall be for us, when we have the presence of our Lord in our lives, especially with the Blessed Mother interceding for us.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may we trust in your goodness and provision. Amen.
