God’s Plan
  • Isaiah 7:10-14, 8:10
  • Psalm 40:7-11
  • Hebrews 10:4-10
  • Luke 1:26-38

Today’s Gospel reading takes us to a little village called Nazareth. The angel Gabriel was sent to a humble young virgin. An announcement was made that changed the history of the world. Imagine the fear and confusion in the mind of young Mary when the angel Gabriel appeared to her. Being with child out of wedlock does not seem like a blessing from God. The favor of God did not mean a trouble-free, hassle-free life. It meant divine intervention and the hand of God even when circumstances would suggest that God had forgotten her. Though the Blessed Mother asked how this will happen she would have realized that the plan of God was beyond her capacity and capabilities, and she could not even visualize how this could happen. When we allow the plan of God to be fulfilled in our lives through the intervention of the Holy Spirit, the work we do will have a supernatural element in it, and it will go beyond our words, thoughts and accomplishments.

PRAYER: Abba Father, help us to say ‘yes’ to your will like the Blessed Mother did. Amen.
