In today’s first reading, we read about the healing of a man who was lame from birth. His legs were probably undeveloped, the muscles and bones unable to support the weight of his body. But there he sits amid the crowd, listening to Paul. The readings say that Paul looked at him and saw that he had the faith to be healed. At Paul’s command, the man does the unthinkable: he attempts to do what he has never done before, what he is naturally incapable of doing. In our lives, there are many areas where we still wait for God to heal us. A sickness that cannot be cured, a brokenness that we are still caught up in, reactiveness, anger or faithlessness. The God who healed this man and raised Jesus from the dead – is the One we believe in. His power has not diminished. When he looks at us, does he see the same faith that the man who was lame had? Is our faith deep enough that we could go out of our comfort zone? Are we asking God for a miracle to continue doing what we are comfortable at?
PRAYER: Abba Father, thank you for the gift of faith. May we trust and hope in your love. Amen.
