Has my faith been severely tested? A preacher once said, that the opposite to faith is not doubt but certainty. Most of us have known some kind of betrayal and unjust treatment at some point in our lives. Whether at school, in the family, at work, or with acquaintances, we have tasted hatred at some stage. If Jesus could face it, so can we. He tells us it is not the end. We will survive. We will not let the experience quench our love or our faith. Jesus does not promise that life will be easy for us. What he promises is that he will give us words and wisdom to hold fast to the Good News. This Good News includes the promise of our resurrection. As we ponder his promises, let us quietly say to the Lord: ‘Jesus, I admire your endurance. You put up with so much frustration and opposition; you were betrayed and put to death. Give me a share of your endurance so that I may not crumble when things get tough!’. He will strengthen us with his grace.
PRAYER: Abba Father, I recall times when I was unable to trust and what that was like. I surrender it all to you. Amen.
