In this journey through trials, the sure way for us to overcome and not succumb is to know the mind of Christ in the decisions we take. How do we know the mind of Christ other than through the wisdom of the Holy Spirit? Today’s first reading teaches us that no one, but the Spirit of God knows the secrets of God. We see in the Gospel proclamation that the Spirit of God manifested in the Lord Jesus through the wisdom and authority in which He shared the word. It was the power of God that had the authority to cast away demons. This is the same authority we are given at the time of our baptism through the power of the Holy Spirit. What a privilege and a blessing. Yet, do we truly exercise our authority? If the answer is no, it will only mean that we are not connected to the Spirit of God on a regular basis. Personally, what has proven powerful in my spiritual walk is praying in the Spirit often. We see that it is true in the life of St Paul who claims to have prayed in the Spirit more than any other disciple.
Prayer: Abba Father, help me to be your humble servant so that I will know the secrets of your heart. Amen.
