In the first reading, Prophet Hosea is warning the nation of Israel. “Return to your God, your sins have caused your downfall”. We can apply this to the situations we may be in right now. We may be going through a spiritual dryness and our prayer life affected, our union with Christ is broken and with that we have stopped hearing the voice of God and our mind has been filled with untruths. Sin, in its subtleness, may have become attractive and we may have fallen. Maybe it has hurt not only our journey but also those who are close to us. But the Psalmist gives us hope. No matter how much we have fallen, the mercy of God is above all for those who repent truly. “My sacrifice O God, is a broken and contrite heart.” This is a promise we can hold onto, that His mercy is endless for those who truly repent and return to God. In our human weaknesses we may stray from the path that God has set forth for us. Amidst the current social trends and pressure, we are called to stand firm faithfully to return to His perfect will and plan for our lives.
Prayer: Abba Father, forgive our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Amen.
