James and John are truly living up to their moniker; ‘Sons of Thunder’, perhaps not taking too kindly to rejection. After all, amongst them is the ‘Son of God’, the ‘King of Israel’ how dare they reject him, escalating the situation is the animosity between the Jews and the Samaritans. But Our Lord accepts the situation from the hands of the Father and moves on, nothing shall deter him a greater mission awaits and there is no time to get embroiled in petty human conflicts. Here, we can be James and John, the Lord is on our side hence everything else needs to be smooth sailing and when things don’t go our way we respond with knee-jerk reactions. We have a role to play how- ever small it is important and keeping our eyes fixed firmly on our destination, the heart of our Father. It’s easy to lose sight of it especially in these times, therefore each of us to need to keep holding onto the hem of the garment of our Lord, because time is quickly running out!
Prayer: Abba Father, help me keep my eyes firmly fixed on our Lord Jesus and through him my purpose. Amen
