In the book of Numbers, when the king wanted Balaam to curse the Israelites he did not. He saw a vision, heard the Word of God and received a revelation which he proclaimed. Balaam did not give in to the fear of what will happen to him if he did not obey the king. Balaam was able to give an important prophecy because he acted without fear. Fear of failure and fear of rejection are some of the fears we struggle with. Fear can drive us to take wrong decisions. When we are not able to totally surrender to the Lord, fear kicks in. Jesus was fearless in replying to the chief priest and elders who questioned his authority. Dependence on God is not asking God to bless what we have decided to do. When we have our plans and dreams then we fear that we will fail. But if we allow God to plant his desires within us, though it may look beyond our reach God will take us through. When we are surrendered and dependent on God we will have less fears. Let us believe and declare this promise to ourselves.
PRAYER: Abba Father, give us the grace to surrender to your will. Amen.
