Today we remember the greatest sacrifice the Lord Jesus offered — his life. Isaiah prophesised about the suffering servant; the one who put God above everything: even above His own life. Isaiah 53:3 says, “He was despised and rejected by humankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.” Je- sus faced crisis and pain so that He would understand and know what we go through. He faced this pain and overcame it through His relationship with the Father. The author to the letter to the Hebrews says, “We do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet did not sin.” (Heb 4:15) He went through pain so that He can empathize with us. Today, as we gaze upon the cross and remember the greatest sacrifice ever made, let us draw near to our Saviour and place our troubles at His feet. As we continue to gaze on Him, He will turn our curses into blessings, just as God the Father turned His death into the resurrection and eternal life for us.
