We are called to follow the law of God. Some of us may think that it is impossible to do what God wants us to do, or live how he wants us to live. In today’s Gospel reading we see that Jesus does not relax the standard for God’s law. He has called us to righteous living. How can we possibly do that? Jesus has told us that we are blessed if we live as God has called us to live. He has told us to live as influencers in the world, as salt and light; and now speaks to us regarding the law of God. All scripture is beneficial for us. Jesus not only obeyed the law, he fulfilled them. He brought clarity to them. Jesus fulfilled the law so we could faithfully follow the Father. Without Jesus we will fail, when it comes to living for God. With Jesus, we have new lives and new hearts. He alone can give us the grace to be changed to be made new. He can give us clarity and understanding of his Law, that we may be able to share his truth with those around us.
