Light of Christ
  • 1 John 3:22 - 4:6
  • Psalm 2:7-8,10-12
  • Matthew 4:12-17,23-25

The Lord Jesus Christ is the light that shone on the people who lived in darkness. This was the light that guided the Magi. The light that banishes the darkness of this world. We are called to experience the light of Christ and to allow this light to shine deeply in our lives. But how do we experience the light of Christ? As it says in the Gospel reading, “Repent, for the  kingdom of heaven is at hand”. It is only through true repentance that we can walk in this light and eliminate the darkness that surrounds our lives. In the First reading, St. John emphasizes that if we keep his commandments, the Lord Jesus himself will come to live inside of us and when he is living inside of us there is no room for darkness because we know that the one inside of us is greater than the one living in the world. But we need to repent and keep coming back to him so that we  do not get caught up in the darkness and distance ourselves from the presence of the Lord Jesus.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may I repent and keep coming back to you so that I may live in your presence. Amen.
