The key to making it in the world is shrewdness. This shrewdness was exhibited by the manager as he was being pulled up for his lax ways of dealing with his master’s debtors.
He found a way to please His master as well as the debtors. In the same way, St Paul knew that he had a problem with the Jews since they knew his background and had a mental block in relating to him, hence he felt his call was to the Gentiles. He strove to witness among them and thus was shrewd in his choice of his audience. He left the work of preaching to Jews to the apostles while he traveled far and wide to the non-Jewish territories breaking the word of God and changing lives. We are also called to be shrewd in our spiritual life. We need to look into our strengths and weaknesses and respond to the call of the Lord. In our weakness and ability to be clever, our Lord wishes to share His saving power with us and save us from the fate that awaits us. We are not abandoned in our journey but have the Lord to love us and lead us to Heaven.
Prayer: Abba Father, we pray for the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in all that we do. Amen
