Jesus came not to abolish the law but to fulfil it in love. He summarized it into two main commands of love. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength, and love your neighbour as yourself. In the Gospel, Jesus explains the Parable of the sower and the different responses that people give in their faith journey. When we first come to faith in Christ we are like ‘babies in Christ’ as referred to by St Paul in his letter to the Corinthians. Over time we achieve maturity. This progression does not happen by self-effort but only through the power of the Holy Spirit working in us. We need to co-operate with God believing in his love, and nothing can separate us from him. Despite our shortcomings, when we bring the truth of our hearts, in total surrender to Him, He will give the power of his Holy Spirit that can transform us. “For, God is at work in you, both to will and work for his good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13)
Prayer: Abba Father, let your word take root in our lives by the power of your Holy Spirit and may we bring forth a bountiful harvest. Amen.
