Many are called, few are chosen
  • Ezekiel 36:23-28
  • Psalm 51:12-15,18-19
  • Matthew 22:1-14

We yearn to hear the Word of God. We have received God’s call to be a part of his kingdom and unlike many guests we see in the Gospel reading, we have accepted the invitation to spend time with the Lord. God’s invitation to be part of his kingdom comes in a variety of ways throughout each day; direct and clear at times but veiled and subtle at other times. However, the choice is ours to accept it or ignore it. Today’s readings prompt us to look deep into our day to day lives to identify the many ways we receive God’s calling. It may be to reach out to someone in need, give our time freely and willingly to support a good cause or be present to someone who feels left out. The church offers us the ideal model today: the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose queenship we celebrate, to help us in recognizing and accepting God’s call with a resounding ‘Yes’. Let us turn to our Beloved Mother and implore her intercession to live as children of God.

PRAYER: Abba Father, guide us to know your voice and to acknowledge your calling with a willing heart. Amen.
