Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time
Mission of Reconciliation
  • Galatians 2:1-2,7-14
  • Psalm 117:1-2
  • Luke 11:1-4

Differences of opinion exist. People act and think differently. Yet we learn to get on with each other. The disunity we experience needs to awaken unity. My sinfulness and others’ perversity has to be dealt with, so that there be unity. I had a strained relationship with a family member for many years. This brought so much pain and turmoil in our families. It came to an end when I unexpectedly met him in sharing a meal at a restaurant, hugs and tears resulted. Heaven too would have celebrated.
The Lord’s prayer shows us how we are to live and act as his followers. The nature of God’s Kingdom breaks down barriers that separate rich and poor, clean and unclean, saint and sinner, prisoners and the free. The Lord would transform the present order of things in the world. One day the structures of social and economic life will reflect God’s reign. The Holy Spirit will empower us to cross boundaries of animosity, discord and doubt to enter realms of peace and tranquility.

PRAYER: Abba Father, forgive my innumerable sins as I forgive those who have sinned against me. Amen.
