As the Holy Spirit inspired Elizabeth to cry out “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb,” we too are filled with awe as we follow Mary’s footsteps in magnifying the Lord. Mother Mary believed that what the Lord spoke would be fulfilled. God’s promises will surely come to pass. She had great faith, humility and obedience and was highly favoured by God. Thus, the event of the visitation speaks volumes to us. Mother Mary in her kindness and generosity spent three months with her cousin, helping and caring for her. It would have been an immense blessing to have Mary, the Mother of the Lord to assist her. Thus, Elizabeth was truly privileged to be visited by the Blessed Mother. We too are blessed and fortunate today, because the Lord Jesus entrusted to us on the cross the gift of his mother. Thus, like the beloved disciple, let us invite her and take her in to our homes and lives that we may also experience her care and intercession.
PRAYER: Abba Father, thank you for the gift of our Blessed Mother, who is your highly favoured daughter. Give us the power to be like her. Amen.
