Jesus is the compassionate high priest in the order of Melchizedek. Jesus learned obedience through suffering. When Jesus faced suffering and death, he knew what crying out to God in fear and anguish meant. We often read in the Gospels about Jesus’ habit of spending time in prayer to face these moments. Jesus came to renew the face of the earth and destroy sin. He did not destroy creation, but re-created it, giving it new life. He came to keep the old and the new, the old cloth and the new cloth, the old wineskin and the new wineskin. Jesus’ presence tells us that God can come among us to renew creation and to move creation forward. Perhaps we need to better appreciate the beauty of a wedding, the precision of a tailor and the skill of a craftsman. We can also look at the sunrise, the sunset and the times between them, to see God’s presence in our lives. Let us be mindful of the presence of Jesus in our world and be connected to his heart.
PRAYER: Abba Father, we pray for strength to trust and obey you. Amen.
