Persist in Faith
  • Genesis 2:18-25
  • Psalm 128:1-5
  • Mark 7:24-30

In today’s Gospel reading we see a Gentile woman who is in a desperate situation concerning her daughter. Jesus’ answer may seem harsh, but Jesus’ ministry was first to the Jews, and he had not yet ministered to others. The disciples wanted Jesus to send her away. Sometimes when we have a sickness, people become indifferent towards us, they are oblivious to our suffering. They might not understand the dreadful pain we are going through. They may be lovely people but may not understand the intensity of the struggles we are going through. This woman was not put off. She kept persisting in her prayer and asking the Lord. She never gave up even with what the people around her were saying. Jesus was amazed at her faith. We do not know when the Lord will answer our prayers, but we should persist. He knows the right time and what his plan is for us. He holds our prayer dear to his heart and he knows what to do with it. Trust in him.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may we have courageous faith and deep trust in you. Amen.
