In today’s first reading, St. Paul speaks to the people of Corinth. In this wealthy young city, excess seemed to be the norm and most of them reflected loose morals and had a materialistic outlook. The Corinthian church that St Paul established, influenced by philosophers, did not believe in the resurrection of Jesus. Their philosophy was, “Let us eat and drink and tomorrow we will die.” It was hopeless, empty and materialistic. St. Paul says that if we do not believe in the resurrection of Jesus, then empty is our preaching, faith, church and our testimony. We are called to “Raise Hope” in the “Corinth” that we live in. Today’s Gospel proclamation says that Jesus was accompanied by three women who provided for Jesus and his disciples, from their personal resources. We are invited to examine the extent to which we have committed our lives to following him. Have we consecrated every part of our life to the Lord and his mission? Do we look for ways to “Raise Hope” in others?
PRAYER: Abba Father, thank you for calling me to be transformed by your Word. Enter every part of my life and use me for your glory Amen.
