Ready to meet the Messiah?
  • Malachi 3:1-4
  • Psalm 24:7-10
  • Hebrews 2:14-18
  • Luke 2:22-40

For some, religion is a set of rules, a philosophy, a doctrine, or a set of teachings. For others, religion is about getting favors and blessings from God. Salvation is not just a doctrine or a philosophy or a creed. Salvation is a person: the Lord Jesus. That is why the prophet Simeon said as he held the baby Jesus in his arms “My eyes have seen your salvation”. When the parents brought Jesus to the temple, two individuals had a divine experience, while others saw an ordinary baby. Simeon and Anna had prepared their hearts, waiting for the Messiah. Simeon was moved by the Holy Spirit to meet the Messiah. Instead of wallowing in self-pity or seeking love from the world Anna chose a life of worship, fasting and praying, which allowed the Lord to prepare her for the wonderful encounter with the Messiah. Let us surrender our worries, self-pity and self-righteousness and allow the Holy Spirit to lift us up, so that the King of Glory may come in to live in our hearts.

PRAYER: Abba Father, purify and refine me so that my life will be pleasing to you. Amen.
