As sinners we ask the Lord for the grace to be humbled before God who embraces us with all of His mercy. Baruch shows the right way to ask for forgiveness. The people were sorry before the Lord and pleaded for their sings to be forgiven. Such an act of remorse reveals more than a simple case of confessing “we have done this or that”, but rather of confessing them “in
relationship with the Lord”, because it is through such a connection that one “reveals repentance”. We are indignant people! Laws are put in place to keep order in our countries, and yet we find ways to turn them to our advantage.
As we live we will continue to sin for we are mere humans with weaknesses. We sin through our thoughts, words and actions. However, as we keep on sinning, God calls us to repentance. In Confession we become mindful of God’s goodness and mercy. There are people who will not leave their sinful lives; no matter how we try to support. Let us pray for such people today.
Prayer: Abba Father, we repent while we still have time and humbly ask you to forgive us of all our sins. Amen.
