Many times we deviate from God’s plan by following our own desires and plans. Then we feel sad and anxious. Today’s readings depict the quality of discipleship that pleases God. “My servant with whom I am pleased, upon whom I have put my Spirit”. As children of God we are expected to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and it should be evident in our words and actions. We must allow the Holy Spirit to control our thoughts and emotions as well. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we will be led by the Spirit. “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” (Romans 8:14) Today’s Gospel proclamation presents a unique character, a person who challenges us by lowering herself before Jesus without any hesitation. We are called to practice such humility in our discipleship. In a nutshell; the words, deeds, feelings and emotions of a servant of God, have to please God, despite any situations and circumstances. We are called to please God. Our primary purpose in life is to be with God.
Prayer: Abba Father, may my life be pleasing to you. Amen.
