Talents given by God
  • 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
  • Psalm 33:12-13,18-21
  • Matthew 25:14-30

Corinth was widely known for its immoral living standards and the church was plagued with numerous problems. More than 10 temples were dedicated to various gods. Though the church was gifted with spiritual gifts, they were immature, getting into disputes with wrong teachings. Paul clearly says that salvation comes only through Jesus and our calling is to follow Jesus by witnessing to the world what Jesus did on the cross. As children of God we have been given many talents. Through the parable Jesus invites us to look into our- selves and recognise the talents we possess and while thanking the Lord, we should ask the question ‘are we using them for the glory of God. We possess the freedom to use them according to God’s will or for our own satisfaction but what is the point of self-glory and losing the presence of God? The greatest blessing of choosing to walk with God is the assurance of his protection, security, inner peace and the promise of life in the kingdom of God.

PRAYER: Abba Father, show us your way, as the world can easily lead us astray. Amen.
