The God of Vindication
  • Isaiah 9:1-6
  • Psalm 96:1-3,11-13
  • Titus 2:11-14
  • Luke 2:1-14

Today’s readings speak of the vindication of Zion and a personal vindication. The Blessed Mother was misunderstood by St Joseph, until he received guidance and the Blessed Mother was vindicated. Jesus died for us and though he rose again and was vindicated, many are yet to believe in him. We too may be misunderstood. We may not have a chance to explain ourselves. But with Jesus on our side, our vindication will happen. Truth will prevail. On this beautiful day of the birth of our Lord, let us rest secure that this is the birth of our vindication. We may be ostracised due to our beliefs, but our vindication is near. Today is our day of hope. Jesus knows the truth of the struggling house wife, the abused child, the exploited worker, the enslaved labourer, the imprisoned political worker, the low caste cleaner, the cash strapped family man, the differently- abled teen and the emotionally wrecked patient. He, ‘your vindicator’ is on your side and he is born today.

PRAYER: Abba Father, I pray for patience as I await my vindication. Amen.
