Today’s readings speak of a wisdom that is not of this world, a wisdom that seems foolish to the wise of this world. Psalm 14:1 says, “The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” According to the standards of the world, it seems foolish to believe in God, it is laughed at and ridiculed. While we believe externally, are our hearts transformed? Are we drowning in our misery, sadness and despair? The Lord Jesus gives us hope even in the darkest night. The cross brings power, salvation and hope to those who believe. As said in the Gospel Proclamation, we are called to be ready to meet our Bridegroom, our Maker. The lamps and the oil reflect the readiness of our hearts and the eagerness to meet Him. Let us take a look at our own hearts: Are we ready to meet Him? Do we believe in the power of the Gospel with our whole hearts? Today, no matter where we stand, He is knocking at the door of our hearts and waiting to come in and embrace us. Will we open the door of our hearts to him?
Prayer: Abba Father, grant me the gift of faith, that I may believe in You and in the power of the Cross. Amen.
