The Annunciation of the Lord would have made the enemy tremble, because the enemy knows that when God says something he delivers it. In the story about the fall of man (Genesis 3:15), God said to the serpent that he would put enmity between the woman and the serpent. Also the same enmity would be between her offspring and the serpent’s offspring. Annunciation is the event where this promise of God was proclaimed and later fulfilled in the birth of the Messiah. The first reading confirmed the promise of God with regard to the birth of the Messiah. Today’s second reading confirms what it means to surrender to God’s will. The Blessed Mother teaches us the art of complete surrender to God’s will. Our total obedience to God is portrayed when we say; “we have come to do your will O God”. This is to be in total obedience to God. Life lived in obedience to God is the best and the enemy is kept away from us. The Messiah is risen and alive.
PRAYER: Abba Father, we have come to do your will. Amen.
