True allegiance to God
  • Daniel 3:14-20, 91-92, 95
  • Daniel 3:52-56
  • John 8:31-42

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego face a fiery furnace for refusing to worship the golden statue set up by King Nebuchadnezzar. Despite the threat, they remain steadfast in their faith, trusting that God will deliver them. Miraculously, they are unharmed by the flames, demonstrating God’s protection over those who are faithful. In the Gospel reading, Jesus speaks of a different kind of deliverance: freedom from the bondage of sin. He explains that true discipleship is about abiding in his word, which leads to the truth that sets us free. Jesus warns against the false security of merely claiming heritage or tradition; true freedom is found in embracing his teachings and living them out. Let us examine our faith and the “idols” we might be tempted to worship — whether they be power, comfort, or security. Let us trust in God’s deliverance and seek true freedom by remaining faithful to Christ’s word, even when it requires sacrifice.

PRAYER: Abba Father, give me the courage to stand firm in faith and to seek the freedom that comes from living in your truth. Amen.
