True Protection
  • Sirach 2:1-11
  • Psalm 37:3-4,18-19,27-28,39-40
  • Mark 9:30-37

We all crave protection in our day to day lives. We focus on physical protection, emotional protection and whatever else that gives us the feeling that we are safe. We protect our homes with barbed wires and security cameras; our cars with alarms and our phones with passwords. We live, surrounded by things that make us feel unsafe. We put Psalm 91 on our door posts, in our wallets and in our minds, but is that Psalm in our heart? The author of Sirach, talks of God being the protector of those who seek him in truth. To me, this truth means a heart devoid of insincerity and falsehood. A heart that is not two sided. A heart that has only one master. We are blessed to have the sacrament of Confession where we can go whenever our hearts need a realignment toward the truth. To provide a purification of our hearts to position our hearts to receive this protection from God. His divine protection will never leave us and will never fail us.

PRAYER: Abba Father, thank you for providing everything we need for life through Jesus. Amen.
