Both the readings speak of Heavenly visions. As we celebrate the feast of the Holy Archangels, we remember that they carried the heavenly messages from the throne of God to the recipients on earth, The Blessed Mother was visited by Gabriel, Tobit was guided by Raphael and Michael was witnessed fighting off Satan.

As Jesus spoke to Nathaniel and welcomed him, Nathaniel was able to piece together all that he had been researching about the Son of Man and was able to tell that Jesus was indeed the Messiah. Our Lord reminded him where he had come from and gave him a glimpse of the future where he was promised a vision of Heaven and the Son of Man ascending with the angels. Faced with the brokenness of the world around us, may we hold on to the Heavenly Vision of God seated on His throne and the angels ascending and descending bringing us messages of protection, hope and love.
