Your faith has saved you! Go in peace!
  • 1 Corinthians 15:1-11
  • Psalm 118:1-2,16-17,28
  • Luke 7:36-50

Today’s Gospel reading speaks of two characters: Simon the Pharisee who did not feel the need to receive forgiveness and mercy from the Lord and the woman who was considered to be a prostitute who accepted the mercy of God and received forgiveness for her sins. The more we get caught up with the world, we tend to seek the acceptance of human beings rather than seeking God’s favor. When we focus on building our own prestige and prominence in the eyes of the world we forget that our lifespan is short. Believing that Jesus is our Saviour brings us eternal life and happiness. The Lord therefore invites us to reflect and repent for the times we have rejected him, ignored him and been unfaithful to him. By his death and resurrection, Jesus has already gained forgiveness for our sins. All we need to do is open ourselves and accept it with faith. Like the woman in today’s Gospel reading, we will then be able to worship the Lord with a heart of sincerity, freedom, love and gratitude.

PRAYER: Abba Father, open my eyes to see you. May my heart be led to repentance. Amen.
